Description

A large and distinctive yellow and black leafhopper. The extent of black markings varies and rarely the forewings are entirely yellow. Females have shorter wings than males.  Nymphs are also striking, with a wide red band across the addomen and red pronotum and wing-bases.

Found in grasslands and scrub.

Adult: June to October

VC55 Status

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
