Wing length 6-9mm. This small cranefly has a brown body and clear wings, with even the stigma pale. Another key character are the elongated antennal segments in the apical half.

A clear image of the wing venation and antennae is required.

Anywhere with wet soil.

May to October.

Common and widespread.

Common but under-recorded.
