2mm. This tiny fly is a leafminer of various grasses. The adult is generally black but with pale yellow on the sides of the thorax, on top of the head and at the apices of the femora.

• subcosta reaches the costal vein (note the subcosta is weak and hard to see)
• orbital setulae are small and reclinate (pointing backwards)
• vein M1+2 ends nearest the wing tip
• scutellum usually with 2 pairs of marginal bristles
• the third antennal segment is angulate at the tip
• frons and apices of the femora pale (yellow)
