Wing length: 5.5-7.5mm. Wings are clear with a distinct black stigma and dark veins that extend to the tip. The thorax and abdomen are covered in pale hairs. The antennal flagellum has 7 segments. The hind tibial spurs of the female are flattened and blunt. Females have the basal half of the front femora is black with the top red, whereas in males it is all dark. Posterior tibia and tarsi are often red.
