Brownish-pink fruiting bodies with a jelly-like texture.   In the var. pura form of the species, they are initially rounded and then become spinning-top shaped, eventually with a concave upper surface and sometimes cup-shaped.  They are usually found on fallen Beech branches or trunks.

Another variety of this species, var. foliacea, has a brain-like contorted form.

Pale or faded forms of Purple jellydisc can look similar
