Barycnemis harpura is a tersilochine ichneumon with a black head & thorax, black and red abdomen and orange/red legs with hind femur being entirely red. It has a body length ~6mm. The wing pterostigma are black and the flagellomeres count should be at least 26 with the ovipositor sheath in females that is slightly shorter than the first tergite. Flight period July-October
