Nematus latipes is a sawfly whose larvae feed on Birch. The adult is just over one centimetre long, has a black abdomen with a red stripe in the centre, and has enlarged rear shins.

Where Birch trees are present.

Adult May to September.

Females lay eggs into longitudinal slits in veins of Birch leaves.

This species seems to be widespread in England, but is poorly recorded which makes its exact status difficult to determine.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
