A large fungus associated with pine trees. The coppery-coloured caps caps are sticky when wet, drying to a smooth surface with a metallic sheen. The gills are deepy decurrent, olive brown and maturing to almost black; the spores are also very dark.

Has a strong association with pine trees which limits the habitat to pine litter.
