Sometimes known as the Rose slug sawfly, the larva has a transparent yellow-green body and orangey-brown head

This species has a red ID rating and unless identified by a known expert you must provide a satisfactory explanation of how it was identified for the record to be accepted.

It is usually the larva that is recorded  it feeds on roses, skeletonising the leaves.

Uncommon or under recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland. The Cropston record of 5th July 2015 is believed to be the first for our area.
