White Spindles
White Spindles - Clavaria fragilis
A white unbranched club usually growing in clusters in grassland.
The differences between this species and Clavaria acuta (syn = falcata), the Pointed Club, are slight, and it is difficult to separate the two.
Photograph showing growth form and habitat, and photograph one club from tip to base of stem; note habitat. Microscopic examination or verification by an expert before submission to NatureSpot is needed. Records for this indicator of conservation grassland are important, so even if it hasn't been confirmed by microscopy, record as the genus Clavaria and note that it was White Spindles/Pointed Club.
