Description
One of many similar looking members of the Tephritidae family which have strongly patterned wings. Great care is needed in identifying these species.
The larvae cause galls in the receptacles of Pilosella (Mouse-ear Hawkweed).

Dry grassy areas.

Summer.
UK Status
Widespread but scattered records from around Britain, many of the records being from coastal areas.
