Common Millet - Panicum miliaceum
Description
Reaching 120 cm in height with flat leaves to 20 cm wide, their sheaths very hairy. Inflorescence a stout panicle, curved over at the tip.

Habitat
Bare and disturbed ground, especially frequent at rubbish dumps.
When to see it
Flowers August and September.
Life History
Annual.
UK Status
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain as a casual plant.
VC55 Status
Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland as a casual plant. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 5 of the 617 tetrads.
