Length 4 to 5 mm. Peritrechus species have only one or two small spines on the front femora. As in Scolopostethus, a pale spot is present at the sides of the pronotum, although this is not always obvious. In P. lundii, the wing membrane has a characteristic white spot at the tip and the sides of the pronotum are distinctly keeled. The basal half of the 2nd antennal segment is pale and the front femur bears a single spine.

Often associated with crop fields but also found on grasslands, heaths and dunes, probably feeding on a range of host plants.

Adult: all year round.

Overwinters as an adult, becoming active in April-June when mating takes place.

A widespread but local species across the UK, although absent from upland areas and commoner in the south.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
