The thallus is very thin to absent so the apothecia appear scattered on the substrate. The apothecia have thick, whitish margins which are often weakly crenulate and the discs within are pale brown.

Myriolecis hagenii is very similar but this species grows on wood, not stone.

Widespread and common in Britain.

Common in Leicestershire and Rutland.
