Pine Cone Tortrix
Wingspan 14 to18 mm.
A migrant. Abroad it favours areas where the larval foodplants are found.
Typically it is on the wing on the continent in April and May.
The larval host plants are various coniferous trees including pine and spruce.
The first record of this species for Britain was netted in Kent in May 2011. The Dadlington record may be only the second record of this species in Britain.
Rare in Leicestershire and Rutland, the Dadlington specimen of 7th May 2013 is the first record for VC55. L&R Moth Group status = D (rare or rarely recorded).
