A tall, clump forming plant often reaching to 2 metres. The flowers may vary in colour but are usually pale (milky) and are often pale lilac forming dense areas of colour. It has slightly serrated leaves.

Often cultivated and occasionally occurring as a casual or becoming naturalised.

Flowering mid to late summer.

Perennial.

Widespread but occasional in Britain where it usually occurs as a casual.

Uncommon casual in our area. It was not recorded in the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire.
