Size 2 to 2.5 mm. A very small and usually elongate, black weevil. The elytra, pronotum, head and femora have whitish hairs. The rostrum is generally parallel-sided and not tapered.

Your specimen should have these features:

• 2-2.5mm
• all black (dark lead)
• head, thorax, elytra and femora with whitish hairs
• rostrum straight, not tapered
• pronotum fairly straight-sided (slightly wider in the middle)
• generally elongate (but can be variable)

This species develops in various Rumex species.

Common and widespread in Britain.

Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 36 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
