Although principally found on the cat (Felis domesticus), this species is responsible for most flea infestations in houses. It is also now the commonest flea found on dogs.

Common. There are over 140 records for VC55 to 2006. Hosts for the flea are as follows: Dog (44), Cat (78), Stoat (1), Man (5), host unknown (5), house (9), garden (1) and pitfall trap (1).
