"Intermediate Evening-primrose is a stable derivative of Large-flowered Evening-primrose, O. glazioviana (female) and Common Evening-primrose, O. biennis (male). It is constant in appearance and can occur in absence of parents. Back-crosses can occur."(Stace 1995)

The Evening-primrose group is a difficult one, which is further complicated by hybridization. Where possible a specimen should be checked by an expert to confirm identification.

The County Recorder has asked for a specimen of this plant to be retained for verification

Prefers open, well-drained soil, but can grow on heavier, part-shaded ground.

Flowers June to September.

Biennial.

Widespread in England and Wales.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was not recorded.
