Submerged, translucent, aquatic plant, fronds oblong to narrowly oval, pointed, linked together by conspicuous, persistent stalks.

May to July.
Life History
Perennial.
UK Status
Widespread and fairly frequent in much of Britain, though scarcer in the far north and west.
VC55 Status
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 108 of the 617 tetrads.
