A small, variable and often grass like plant, it is frequently viviparous with new plants growing out from the main plant instead of flowers. 

[NB: Juncus kochii is considered by Stace (4th edn.)  to be a subspecies of Juncus bulbosus.] 

Either obtain confirmation from a County Recorder before submitting a record, or submit detailed images showing key features.  We recommend that you take and retain a specimen; the County Recorder may wish to see this for confirmation. 

Wet ground including bog, woodland and heath.

Flowers between June and September.

Perennial.

Widespread in much of Britain.

It was recorded in the Flora of Leicestershire (Primavesi & Evans, 1988) in 26 of the 617 tetrads. 

In the VC55 checklist (Jeeves 2011) it is listed as Native; axiophyte; locally frequent, but almost confined to Charnwood Forest
