A 6 or 7mm long red brown beetle.

Habitat
Well wooded areas.
When to see it
Usually seen between April and October.
Life History
It is an arboreal species found on a variety of tree species such as Sycamore, Horse-chestnut and Spruce where it can often be located under bark.
UK Status
Fairly frequent and widespread in the southern half of Britain.
VC55 Status
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 26 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
