At 6 or 7 mm this is a small, slim beetle with entirely dark forebody and scutellum, pale golden; strongly granulate elytra and pale gold coloured legs.

Mostly arboreal, and likely to be found in woodland borders, parkland and wasteland, but it may also be found on umbelliferous flowers such as Hogweed in warm weather.

May to late July.

Fairly common and widespread in Britain.

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 57 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
