A relatively large (up to 1.3cm) shallow cup fungus with a dark olive-green inner fertile part surrounded by a raised yellowish, furrowed margin, and dark brown exterior.

Mainly May to November.

Note: this species is not assigned to a family on the NBN, but is 'hanging' in Dothideomycetes.  It is in Catinellales-Catinellaceae on other sites - e.g. see Bladmineerders
