Length 6mm. Outer margin of forewing convex; upperside markings blackish-brown on reddish ground, collar dirty-white to rufous (from above), border of stink gland narrowly pale. A2 brownish-black, usually with two conspicuous wide white rings (≈2xA2 thickness) at base & middle; A1≈1.1xA4.

Feeds on a range of deciduous trees - Oak, Hawthorn, etc. Often attracted to light traps.
