Description
A small (3 to 3.5 mm) dark brownish water beetle with paler creamy orange coloured markings which vary from one specimen to another.
Habitat
In still water such as ponds and in slow moving water.
When to see it
Spring to autumn.
UK Status
Widespread and common in Britain.
VC55 Status
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 39 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
