Wingspan 22 to 26 mm.  

This is a rare moth in our area, so records should be supported by a good photograph, and the specimen should be retained until identification has been confirmed by the County Recorder.

In Britain, it has mostly been encountered between June and October.

Abroad, the species has been associated with plants including Broom and Ivy.

Once a rare migrant to the south-east coast of England, it has recently become established in some counties in the south east. and now seems to be turning up in more localities further inland.

Rare in Leicestershire and Rutland.  A Quorn record in September 2025 was the first for our area (VC55).
