Bright green flattened shoots with large, oval leaves with a blunt tip.  The leaves are translucent and have extremely large hexagonal cells which can clearly be seen with the naked eye, giving it a glittery appearance in sunlight.

Superficially like a liverwort, but leaves are not in two or three ranks, and the cells are much larger than any UK liverwort
