3-6mm. The elytra are usually dark blue but the head and pronotum are bright red. The legs are black and the antennae are red at the base then darken towards the tips.

The genus typically have confused punctuation on the elytra, antennomeres that widen towards the tip, a pronotum with short lateral furrows near the base and tibia with a spur.

Podagrica fuscicornis is also found on Mallow and looks similar, but has pale brown legs.

Has been restricted to the south-east but appears to be expanding.
