All adult viviparae of Takecallis arundicolens are alate.  They have a creamy-white body, dark tarsi and wing veins and a small cauda ("tail") that is usually black.  Both adults and nymphs have long, striped antennae.  For more detail and description see 'Further Information' link below.

In Takecallis arundinariae the alate has a double row of dashed lines along its abdomen.

Feeds on Bamboo (Arundinaria, Bambusa, Phyllostachys and Sasa spp.) rarely on Common Reed 

Peak time is around June.

True status in Britain is difficult to determine due to lack of records.

Rarely recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.
