Glutinous Waxcap - Hygrocybe glutinipes var. glutinipes

Description

A small waxcap with a very sticky viscid cap and stipe.  The stipe is sometimes coated in slimy globules. The gills are adnate to decurrent, and the colour varies from yellow to orange.  The gill edges are dry.

Similar Species

Other sticky species in yellowish/dull orange shades include Heath, Parrot and Golden Waxcaps.  Gloioxanthomyces vitellinus has occasionally been recorded in VC55; it is also very slimy, bright yellow, but with strongly decurrent and sticky gills.
