6-8mm. This is a very variable species with males also different to females, however males are very rarely seen and most reproduction appears to be from parthenogenesis.

Females are pale green (fading to straw yellow after death) with a broad black stripe on the top of the abdomen and with a pattern of black strips on the thorax. There is also a black ocellar spot on top of the head that can be large. Antennae are black and the legs are pale but with darker tips to the tibia and tarsi.

April - September

Larvae feed on Birches.

Widespread but uncommon.
