Description
Wingspan 19 mm.
Habitat
Inhabiting woodlands and marshy places.
When to see it
It is found on the wing in August and September.
Life History
The larvae, which feed on Willow and eat away the terminal shoots during May and June.
UK Status
This moth occurs sporadically throughout England and southern Scotland. In the Butterfly Conservation's Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as local.
VC55 Status
It appears to be uncommon in Leicestershire and Rutland, where there are few records. L&R Moth Group status = D (rare or rarely recorded).
