• Yellow legs but with the tip of the hind tibia darkened.
• Pale post-ocular hairs (in the lower half).
• 1st segment of hind tarsus with 2 dorsal bristles.
• 1st segment of mid tarsus with 1 dorsal bristle.
• 3rd antennal segment partly pale
• Front coxa with dark hairs on the dorsal surface

Found throughout England & Wales, scarce in Scotland.

Records of Dolichopus festivus are widely scattered in Leicestershire and Rutland being one of the more common species of the genus locally.
