A fairly large (4.6 to 8 mm) black weevil with elbowed antennae, large teeth on femurs, flat eyes and a funnel-shaped pronotum.

Associated with Pine (Pinus sp.)

Can be found in most months of the year.

Larvae bore into dying Pine branches.

An infrequently recorded species, with most records coming from south-eastern England and East Anglia although it has been recorded as far north as Nottinghamshire.

Rarely recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.
