Description

Whitish or pale bluish-grey thallus to 6cm diameter. It is distinctive because of its white rimmed apothecia with black centres.

Occurs on well-lit, nutrient-rich fences and trees, often in the nodes of twigs and branches.

All year round

UK Status

Fairly frequent and widespread in Britain, although there are fewer records from the east and the north west England.

VC55 Status

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
