This species has numerous upright globose sporangia on quite long black stalks. The head of a sporangium has a network of interconnecting thin threads. Spores are spherical, faintly warty and dark brown. The plasmodium is a shiny white.

Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland, with very few recent records.
