Female scales oval, convex, dull reddish brown; up to 6 mm long and 4 mm wide.

Found on various trees and shrubs.

Adults are most likely to be seen is summer and early autumn.

Larvae can be found on the undersides of the leaves; for hibernation they migrate to thin branches, where they become adult after the winter. The species is parthenogenetic.

True status in Britain is difficult to determine due to lack of records.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
