The cap is pale brown to reddish brown and striate, wrinkled when older.  The gills are brown with reddish edges. The stipe is whitish with a few flecks of the white veil, and with a rooting stem base.  Spore print purple-black, spores ellipsoidal, smooth with a germinal pore, 10-13 x 6-7µm. 

There are several Psathyrella which have red edges to their gills and microscopic examination is needed to separate them

This is a difficult species, and we recommend that it is verified by an expert from a specimen before submission to Naturespot.  Microscopic examination will be needed.  Also photograph from top down, in side view and underneath to show gills and full length of stipe including rooting stem base; note habitat and substrate.
