Oegoconia quadripuncta, Oegoconia caradjai and Oegoconia deauratella  can only be reliably separated by genitalia dissection.  Where this examination process has not been carried out records should be submitted as Oegoconia quadripuncta agg.

Hedgerows and woodland.

The larvae, like those of O. quadripuncta, probably feed on dried and decaying vegetable matter, though this has yet to be clarified.

Distributed mainly in the south-east of England, with a couple of records from Ireland, though it is probably awaiting discovery elsewhere. In the Butterfly Conservation's Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as local.

It appears to be uncommon in Leicestershire and Rutland, where there are few records. L&R Moth Group status = D (rare or rarely recorded).
