Size: 8.3 to 10.5 mm.  A shiny metallic brassy-green to coppery beetle with red-brown legs.

On or around Common Reed (Phragmites australis) in various situations. Adults may be found on young leaf-shoots, larvae on roots.

Summer months are peak time.

Three-year life cycle with adults overwintering in cocoons.

Widespread but scattered and local in Britain.

This species had not been recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland since1932 until it was found twice in a week during June 2021.
