Length 4 to 5 mm.  A very variable species with the cells of the forewings covered in dark dots or mottling, with a base colour rangindg from pale to dark brown; the extent of mottling varies.   Identification should be confirmed by examination of internal male genitalia. 

Euscelidius and other Euscelis species; E lineolatus is nationally common but has not been recorded in VC55.
