Low to short stoloniferous plant with long woolly white hairs. Leaves all in a basal rosette often broadest above the middle, untoothed, white felted beneath. Flowerheads lemon yellow, 20 to 30 mm solitary, the outer florets often red striped beneath.

Frequent throughout Britain but less common in East Anglia and northern Scotland.

Frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 311 of the 617 tetrads.
