Medium to tall, hairy plant with a creeping, woody stock; stems erect, angular. Leaves lanceolate, sharply toothed, pointed and unstalked. Flowerheads white, with a greenish white disk, 12 to 18 mm borne in lax, branched clusters.

Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) has very similar flowers, but smaller and in dense flower-heads

Damp grassy habitats and meadows, marshes and water margins.

Perennial.

Fairly frequent throughout Britain.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 75 of the 617 tetrads.

In the current checklist (Jeeves 2011) it is listed as Native; occasional, but becoming scarce.
