Size 1.2 to 1.5 mm. A very small member of the ladybird family, this is a rather hairy, black species with pale orange legs.

Unless identified by a recognised expert, detailed photographic evidence is required. Note the size and describe the identifying characters. It is advisable to retain the specimen in case further checks are needed. 

Lives on shrubs and deciduous trees, especially on the underside of lime leaves.

Peak is probably May to July.

Specialized spider mite predator.

Widespread in England.

Rare, or rarely recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.
