Larva feeds on leaf litter and various lichens, living and feeding in a movable case.

Widespread in the southern half of Britain but scarce and very local. In the Butterfly Conservation's Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as Nationally Scarce B.

Rarely recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.
