Wingspan 17 to 22 mm. A very attractive species with its pale buff wings veined in black and white.

Inhabits sea-cliffs, rocky slopes and chalk or limestone areas.

It flies in May and June, in a single generation, from dusk into the night.

The larvae feed in the seed capsules of Bladder Campion or Sea Campion near the coast.

Widely distributed, though local, throughout most of Britain. In a recent survey to determine the status of all macro moths in Britain this species was classified as local.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = C (very scarce resident or rare migrant).
