Water Lane is located northwest of Tinwell, and turns northwards off Stamford Road, signposted to Ingthorpe. Stamford Road can be accessed directly from the A1, heading westwards.
There is no bus service in this area.

Site species count:
Designated a Local Wildlife Site in 2006, the Water Lane verge is approximately 350 metres long, on both sides of the road. The main habitats are calcareous grassland, mesotrophic grassland, and mixed grassland. The eastern side is between 1 and 2.5 metres wide, and is recorded to be in good condition with excellent species diversity. The western side is 2-5 metres wide, and is reportedly less species-rich.
Recorded species include: Bulbous Buttercup, Red Clover, Blue Fleabane, Ploughman’s Spikenard, Agrimony, Common Knapweed, Lady's Bedstraw, Field Scabious, Meadow Vetchling, Autumn Hawkbit, Common Restharrow, Burnet-saxifrage, Meadow Buttercup, Greater Knapweed, and Knapweed Broomrape.
In addition, Grey Sedge Carex divulsa, a species on the rare plant register, has been recorded at this site.
