The Nut Scale Eulecanium tiliae causes damage to various woody plants including trees and shrubs such as Hawthorn. Oak, Ash, Field Maple and fruit trees such as Apple and Pear. The scale insects are oval, strongly convex, yellowish-brown to dark brown, shiny; up to 6.5 mm long and 6 mm wide. Fresh scales highly variable in colour, cream, pale yellow or reddish brown with irregular brown and reddish transverse bands.
