Giant Butterbur
Giant Butterbur - Petasites japonicus
Petasites japonicus is a substantial plant, producing huge suborbicular leaves to 90cm across, reaching 150cm in height, in summer. Flowers are cream to white, borne on stout erect stems to 30cm.

Prefers damp conditions.
Flowers in February and March.
Perennial rhizomatous plant.
Occasional but quite widespread in Britain.
Rarely recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.
